This week I wanted to start exploring different venues in
LA. On Tuesday, I got to see Cage the Elephant perform. It was at the Shrine Auditorium,
which reminded me a lot of the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. Cage the Elephant put on
an amazing, energetic show. They are becoming one of my favorite bands after
seeing them live. It was the kind of show that confirms I want to work in the
music industry.
On Wednesday a group of us went to Angel City Brewery. This
was really fun and I thought it was interesting to compare it to the Athens’
breweries. In Athens you sample the beers and have a certain number of tickets.
However, at Angel City it was like you were at a bar and could go up and order
a full beer and as many as you want. It was very cool space and we all played
Apples to Apples. I thought the beer was pretty good too and I look forward to
going back.
Two of my best friends from home are in town, Callie and
McKinley. So I have gotten to show them around LA too. On Saturday I took them
to Venice Beach. I really enjoy people watching so that was a fun time walking
around and seeing all the street performers. The skate boarders entranced us.
It was like Rocket Power in real life! I think we really stayed watching them
for a hour. I think it would be awesome to skate board…. Unfortunately I have
horrible balance so I doubt I will ever be able to have that skill. Haha
Saturday night the majority of the group went to Bootie LA. This was definitely
the most fun night I have had here. We got there around 10 p.m. and did not
leave until 2 a.m.. We tore it up on the dance floor the entire time….
Yes, I am pretty sore….
I also discovered
two new restaurants near Oakwood: Olive and Thyme and Don Cucos. Olive and
Thyme is a cute, little lunch place and Don Cucos is great Mexican restaurant. Both
are really good and you should totally check them out!
Love your post, Lallie! That concert sounded awesome! The Fox Theatre is amazing, so now I really want to look up more shows coming to the Shrine Auditorium. It was also great getting to spend time with the group Wednesday night. I feel like we all learned about each others true colors during Apples to Apples. I can't wait to hear about more adventures (and restaurants) next week!
