You Can't Spell Lallie Without LA 3

This last week I have realized one of the reasons I love LA:  there is always something going on.
Last week we went to the season finale of 12 Monkeys. This is not one of my favorite shows and I had no idea what was going on but the experience with the hardcore fans was very cool. Afterwards, I went to a free Grouplove concert at the Hard Rock Café. It was a very short but intimate show and I really enjoyed it. Also, we went to the Laugh Factory. I had a lot of fun watching the different comedians.

My favorite restaurant I found this week was Cocina Condensa – 2 tacos for $5 and free tequila shots by checking in on Yelp. Talk about a prime Taco Tuesday!

For the fourth weekend a few of us decided to go explore outstide of LA since we had the weekend off. Our destination was San Francisco.

On the way up we took the scenic route. We went to the Hearst Castle which was very cool, I felt like I was living in the Great Gatsby. We took the Pacific Coast Highway through the beautiful towns of Big Sur, Carmel, and Monterey. We also stopped by to have dinner with my brother. I really appreciated that my friends didn’t mind stopping by to hang for a bit because I haven’t seen him since Christmas!

We decided to stay in an Airbnb while we were there. This was my first Airbnb experience. We arrived at night and noticed that the Halloween decorations were still hanging up. Online her décor was described as “clutter chic” so I had no idea what to really expect. Let me tell ya it was certainly interesting. The 7 of us got to know each other pretty well sharing one bedroom together… Surprisingly it was decently spacious. As we walked up to the door that first night we were greeted by a lady who seemed a little crazy named Lexie. She quickly grew fond of us and she told us all about things to do in the city. I met one of her friends who works for the band one of my professors at UGA is in. That was so cool to me and put into perspective what a small world it is. Lexie, was awesome and I totally recommend staying with her if you want an interesting experience.

I started the first day with bottomless mimosas and chicken n waffles. The rest was spent doing touristy things like the Golden Gate Bridge, the Wharf, Hippie Hill, and Height Ashbury. I have been to San Fran before so I knew it was going to be cold but wow we freezed our butts off. We went to China town and went to a fortune cookie factory. We also ate at a delicious place with fresh homemade pasta and sauces. Later on we stopped at a local pub, went to the Ferry building, and to the Painted Ladies.

Lexi’s hood had some intense fireworks. I’m talking so intense the car alarms were going off and I thought we were under some kind of attack.... That night we went out in the Castro District which was fun and we ended the night on a bus with a homeless woman belting out the Star Spangle Banner together. 'Merica.

Overall, I think San Fran is a great place to visit however I do not have a desire to live there. I prefer LA.

  1. Hey Lallie. It's Jordan. I have to admit that I had a good time San Francisco. It was my first time there so I wasn't as familiar with it as you. The entire trip was a fascinating experience. I had a bit of a culture shock, especially since the city is 420 friendly. Hippie Hill was a bit odd. I didn't expect people to try to sell us weed and other drugs. I am so jealous that you and the rest of your troupe got to go to Hearst Castle. I missed that part. I am sure I would have loved to see the place. I am even more jealous that you went along the Pacific Coast Highway. Riding along that highway has always been a dream of mine. Despite that, I am so glad that you invited me to San Francisco. It was a blast!

  2. Wow. I think from now on we, as a group, should all go to Taco Tuesdays. That honestly sounds like a great deal and a lot of fun. Double win right there.
